Building the Buzz
Saturday 7 August, 7.30pm - WITT Cafeteria, WITT Bell Street Campus, New Plymouth
The Most FM’s Bell Street Blues Show, Music Works and Singer-Songwriters New Plymouth are hosting this concert featuring:
The Diarmuid Cahill Band – New Plymouth-based Irish singer-songwriter with his eclectic band of musicians
Blue Monkey Racket – Taranaki’s foremost blues band, who will also be opening G-TARanaki’s Bell Street Blues Club night
Firefly Streetbeat Orchestra – jazz fusion led by Justin “Firefly” Clarke, the guitar virtuoso from Wellington who played WOMAD with Age Pryor and Jess Chambers, has toured Europe and Japan and played on over 40 albums.

Saturday 7 - Wednesday 11 August - Arthouse Cinema, 73A Devon Street West (above Matinee), New Plymouth
Running from 7 to 11 August, Arthouse Cinema will be screening a series of music films to whet our appetites for G-TARanaki.
I’m Not There – The experimental Bob Dylan biopic, using six actors to play him – including Cate Blanchett!
It Might Get Loud – A must for all guitar aficionados. Guitar legends from three generations meet for the ultimate guitar summit. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Jack White (White Stripes) and The Edge (U2) discuss their roots, their love of guitars and their passion for the instrument.
The Sun Came Out – Neil Finn’s second Seven Worlds Collide gathering, with Johnny Marr, KT Tunstall, Bic Runga, Don McGlashan and members of Radiohead and Wilco.
Rocksteady – A documentary on the transitional Jamaican style between mid 1960s ska and early 1970s reggae – three part harmonies, irresistibly catchy tunes, deft picking guitars and jazz-informed horn arrangements.
Last Days - Filmmaker Gus Van Sant directed this meditation on stardom and its cost, inspired by Kurt Cobain.
Air Guitar Nation - Hugely entertaining, frequently hilarious doco filmed at the 2003 Air Guitar world championships.

Cancer Society Rock Memorabilia Auction
Saturday 14 August, 3.00pm - Puke Ariki, New Plymouth
A fundraising event for the Taranaki Cancer Society, this successful auction is once again being held at Puke Ariki during G-Taranaki. On offer are guitars signed by AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, the Amazing Rhythm Aces and U2.
In the lead up to the auction, bids are being accepted via http://www.rockauction.co.nz/ which will act as the starting point for bids on the night. Bidders who wish to attend the live auction should submit their details on the sign-up page, as the event is strictly invitation only. Phone bids will also be taken at the live auction for those who cannot attend.
This event will start with a set from local original band Dark Water and then the auction will start at 3.30pm. The auctioneer for the event is Kris Rasmussen from The Professionals.
